Opening - At The End There Was a Doorway

November 5, 2025

Braverman Gallery is inaugurating the lower level as a new project space dedicated to presenting open work processes. The first project, “At the End There Was a Doorway” by Liora Kaplan, deals with translating elements of Israeli material culture into new sculptural environments and with constructing a derived visual language. Alongside the works, materials and objects collected in the studio over recent months are presented, together sketching a broader picture of the working process.

The Lighthouse is Dark Between Flashes

February 3, 2023

“The Lighthouse is Dark Between Flashes” is the first solo exhibition in the United States for Tel Aviv-Yafo based artist Liora Kaplan. Through the process of unearthing found ceramic vessels from her home region in Israel and combining them with new elements made from materials including wood, leather, metal, glass, and stone, Kaplan crafts towering sculptures that function as signals for the creative forces that connect us to nature, to each other and to our shared histories. Standing as pillars for Kaplan’s foundational influences in art, craft, philosophy, and music, her works become beacons that guide the viewer into her blended visions of retro-futurist construction and otherworldly contraption.

March 19, 2022

Please join the Center’s Curator Tamar Margalit for a tour of our current exhibitions: “Enrique Ramírez: What Will We Do…” and “Liora Kaplan: Rhythms of Permanent Resonance,” the latter attended by the artist. Ramírez’s solo exhibition, his first solo presentation in Israel, consists of eight works, three newly created by the artist following our invitation, displayed in the Ground Floor Gallery, and a selection of five iconic films from the past twenty years, screened in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Kaplan’s solo exhibition, her first institutional solo presentation ever, consists of eight brand new totemic sculptures based on the combination of appropriated Israeli ceramics with new elements created by the artist with rattan, wood, brass, and leather. During the tour, Margalit will first introduce Ramírez’s practice, which ranges from the poetic to the political and then talk to Kaplan about the sources of inspiration for her work and the in-depth research process that preceded it.

The event will be held in Hebrew.

Artist Liora Kaplan on Appropriation as Appreciation →

March 18, 2022

Kaplan sat down with the director and curator of CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo, Nicola Trezzi, to discuss the show, her thoughts on appropriation, and what she’s working on next.

Exhibition tour | Enrique Ramírez: What Will We Do… / Liora Kaplan: Rhythms of Permanent Resonance

March 12, 2022

Please join Nicola Trezzi, Director of CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo for a tour of our current exhibitions: “Enrique Ramírez: What Will We Do…” and “Liora Kaplan: Rhythms of Permanent Resonance.” Ramírez’s solo exhibition, his first solo presentation in Israel, consists of eight works, three newly created by the artist following our invitation, displayed in the Ground Floor Gallery, and five, a selection of iconic films from the past twenty years, screened in the Marc Schimmel Multipurpose Gallery. Kaplan’s solo exhibition, her first institutional solo presentation ever, consists of eight brand new totemic sculptures based on the combination of appropriated Israeli ceramics with new elements crated by the artist with rattan, wood, brass and leather. During the tour, Trezzi will introduce the two exhibitions in order to contextualize them within the larger vision of the Center, its legacy and future directions. Following the fact that both artists already exhibited at the Center in the past, the tour will shed light on how the exhibition program is reflecting a much deeper order of things within the institution, the field in Israel and the scene internationally.

Performance | Gong bath with Snir Haim

March 9, 2022

Please join us for a gong bath performed by Snir Haim, who is an Israeli sound facilitator working internationally after studying at Università Popolare di Lucca (Italy), with sound healer and gong master Roberta Bottari. A gong bath is an encounter between sound, vibration and frequency with body, mind and consciousness. Haim will guide us at the beginning of the session and then the sounds will accompany each and everyone in this journey during which he will also play more instruments, such as bowls from the Himalayas, ocean drums and shells. Gongs have accompanied humankind for 4000 years and they produce harmonies that are pleasant to the ear and have the ability to affect brain waves. This event is presented on the occasion of Liora Kaplan’s solo exhibition, currently on view at CCA Tel Aviv-Yafo.
